Tête à Tête has established itself as the home of new opera, recently commissioning a brochure to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival.
Looking at the line-up of productions for 2017, Tête à Tête landed on the theme of UNTOLD STORIES. Many of the productions include themes of isolation, oppression, social challenge, forgotten communities and discrimination, and they wanted to demonstrate these characters and their stories but as a collective or body of people. Hoping that the festival would create a sense of belonging and act as an antithesis to the political and social reality of many of the issue we face as a society at present.
Imagery and character design was based around plush toy machines, with the characters referenced as cuddly toys plotting an escape from the machine as a team.

"Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's Theory of Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energised focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterised by complete absorption in what one does.
'Theory of Flo' celebrates being in the moment - in love, in thought, on the dancefloor. Detach your mind and just flow."
